Unable to interact with any loaded ROM's

I'll start by saying, please forgive me if there is an obvious reason for what is happening to me, I'm new to the world of emulation, so if I have missed something, I'm sorry & will do my best to learn.

so I have Dolphin 3.0 for Mac OSX installed and I've gotten to the point where a rom is loaded, & on screen it says "press A and B to start" (or whatever the 1st screen for that ROM is, I have tried 3 so far), no matter what 2 keys (or buttons on the PS3 controller i have hooked up via bluetooth) I press the game won't go any further than that main menu screen


I opened the "CGPad" button on the main Dolphin interface & selected "Input/0/PLAYSTATION®3 Controller" then proceded to map the buttons, which Dolphin seems to detect okay (I press a button on the control pad, the corresponding "CGPad" on screen display lights up or moves to indicate a successful binding).

but alas, no matter what I try the game itself does not respond to any input I press.

I have tried with the keyboard too, just incase the PS3 controller was doing something funny... same issue... the keys are bound, but no response from the running ROM


soo... TL;DR roms load, no crashs, just not responding to any controller input once running

Make sure port 1 is set to standard controller under config-->GC

I just checked, it is indeed set ti "standard controller"

You haven't said which games you're trying to play. If you're playing Wii games but have only setup the Gamecube controller, it won't work unless the real game supports GC controllers (e.g. SSBB, MK Wii). Other Wii games use the Wiimote; Dolphin emulates this too, just click the "Wiimote" button and then configure the input.
