ucrtbase.dll error on Windows 10

Dolphin runs on a computer with Windows 10 RTM (aka 10240) and recent dev builds throw the buggy ucrtbase.dll error telling me to update Universal C runtime. The only links I can find say that Universal C Runtime is only for older versions of windows, not for win10.

Is this error mistakenly being shown? Is Windows 10 RTM actually going to cause bugs? Is there a way to use an upgraded ucrtbase.dll without changing the windows 10 version?

The latest dev builds require 2017. There is a link on the dolphin download page. Stable requires 2015, and will be installed with the stable installer.

I've got these installed. I should have mentioned the error says I have ucrtbase.dll 6.2.10240.17443. The error message mentions a fix ucrtbase in build 10548 - which number does this refer to? I don't think I can go above 6.2.10240 because that's my windows version, but it should still have the bug fixes rolled into it, right?

From what I can tell, that dll is now updated with windows. Why are you on RTM?

AFAIK on Windows 10 the ucrtbase.dll is binded to your Windows build, you won't be able to get a new version of it without first updating to a new Windows 10 build. MS even started pushing that upgrade advisor thing from Windows 7/8.1 to Windows 10 users in the RTM version...

Alright, thanks for the replies. Is there a particular bug I can watch out for or check? Couldn't find anything on the bug tracker mentioning it.

I can't snag an updated version and put it in a dolphin folder, can I?

I'm on RTM because when I tried to update it bricked me, so I just download security, etc updates for RTM manually instead. I'm happy with it.

You can, but I remember reading somewhere about ucrtbase.dll being explicitly "blacklisted" from app-local deployment on Windows 8.1 and newer (e.g. if you put an updated ucrtbase.dll next to Dolphin.exe it would still load the system version instead of the one you put here on Windows 8.1 and newer)...

Yes, https://bugs.dolphin-emu.org/issues/9867. But it has been closed already - it doesn't seem like a patch is going to be added for the ucrtbase.dll version that you're using.

Thanks! I just found that my ucrtbase.dll was updated in a June update, this year. I'm wondering if they patched it for my version too.
