So I've been trying to do this for hours now and I'm all out of ideas.

I've been trying to get my installation of Dolphin to work with Trauma Team. The crontrols are almost entirely set up - I just need to be able to do the IR forward and backward for the endoscopy side of it. I saw on other topics people talking about setting the IR forward/backwards to the mouse scroll wheel, so I've been trying to do that.

And I can't for the life of me figure out how the hell to get Dolphin to do it. When I open Dolphin up in Windows I can set the controls perfectly fine (it detects scroll wheel as "Axis Z+" or "Axis Z-" depending on the direction I put it). But the options I find for windows aren't found on the list of possible inputs in Ubuntu (there is no Axis Z of any kind showing up). I tried looking up the exact button press the computer registers when I scroll, but nothing. The computer detects it as "button 4" or "button 5", but setting "Click 4" and "Click 5" in the advanced control setup does nothing.

I've tried pressing "detect" and then what I want. It doesn't do anything, I press "detect" and scroll the wheel in the direction I want and it just doesn't seem to want to do anything with it. In windows it automatically goes to "Axis Z+" or "Axis Z-" and it just works.

Any ideas as to what I can do to get it to let me set the scroll wheel for IR forward/backwards in Ubuntu MATE? I'm completely out of ideas. I'd switch back to Windows, but Windows doesn't support my preferred language.

What device did you select in the controller config dialog? Make sure you are using the latest development build and using the XInput2 input backend.

I've done tried that and it didn't work, it still doesn't detect my scroll wheel. Any other ideas?

EDIT: I've also run into issues mapping the swing control for the orthopedics part of the game.......

It's probably not supported by XInput2 then. You can try using the evdev input device for your touchpad directly; that should have support for the scroll axis.

How do I do that? the only devices I have don't seem to allow it.

Also, while I am on a laptop and I do have a touchpad, I'm actually using an external mouse for the controls, so shouldn't I not have to worry about getting the trouchpad working?

Give Dolphin permission to use the raw input device for your touchpad or mouse, then it should appear in Dolphin.

You can find out the correct device with evtest
