Hello everyone
First and foremost I want to thank everyone who works on this project, for once an emulator that not only works but works well and does so on all platforms. I'm currently studying computer engineering (only first year, though, so not nearly a level high enough to be of use, for now) and i hope i'll be able to contribute in the (far-ish, sadly) future.
My problem is this: i'm kind of OCD when it comes to programs being listed in the ubuntu menu so, when a program doesn't have a shortcut, i create it. This time however, while the emu runs perfectly if i run it from nautilus via doubleclick or from terminal through "cd /home/namehere/dolphin-emu-read-only/Binary/Linux-i686 && ./dolphin-emu", whenever i try to make a shortcut to it the shortcut doesn't work.
In the shortcut i can't use "cd /home/namehere/dolphin-emu-read-only/Binary/Linux-i686 && ./dolphin-emu" as a command, apparently, so i tried to use "/home/namehere/dolphin-emu-read-only/Binary/Linux-i686/dolphin-emu".
It runs but it doesn't seem to find config files, plugins etc. Basically the games list is always empty and when i try to open the config menu via the GUI it returns "Trying to read from invalid SYSCONF" four/five times before opening the config menu, which doesn't list any plugin. I tried to have the shortcut run the right command in a terminal but that doesn't work either.
Now, this is by no mean an urgent problem, but i get the feeling it's probably due to my lack of knowledge of how the shortcuts in ubuntu work (i'm kinda new to linux and while i've got the grasp of compiling and editing config files by now, i never really had this kind of problem so my experience is lacking) and that the solution would be obvious to someone more experienced than me.
I don't think it's a necessary information but i use Ubuntu 10.4 32 bit and to install i used the instructions in "http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/wiki/Linux_dependencies".
Please let me know what i'm doing wrong.
Thank you in advance.
