Two emulators at once, same game race (Windwaker)

Hello,

I am currently trying to work out the best settings for dolphin in order to play two copies of Windwaker simultaneously. This is becasue me and a friend want to start at the beginning of Windwaker at the same time and race to the end.

The only trouble I have had in doing this is the 'speed' drops to 95% or so occasionally meaning one instance of the emulator runs slower than the other. I am concerned that in large open areas, or during 'busy' areas of the game it will slow down significantly, and may give an unfair advantage to one of us.

I have tried various settings, including giving each emulator two cores of my cpu, but that made it much worse.

Thanks for any suggsetions.
I can't work out if the problem is CPU or GPU based, or if it's simply a software issue. I have a quad core amd phenom II CPU and an nvidia GTX 460, running at stock speeds. I have used game booster to minimise software interference. I get a pretty solid 30fps on both emulators, but its the speed issue thats the problem. What's the difference between speed and fps?

You haven't given us your full specs.

Your PC can only handle so much. Dolphin is depending on the game, very CPU intensive, more than your everyday game.
Running two instances of Dolphin takes a lot of processing power.

Your CPU is too slow to handle two instances of Dolphin at fullspeed. Your GPU is good enough.
The speed is the FPS in percentages. They're tied together.
100% speed, in Wind Waker, means 30FPS. If it drops to 95% you'll get around 28-29FPS or so.

Ok so it is without question the CPU? Should I attempt an overclock? or are we talking vastly too slow? Is there anything in the settings that may help? Thank you for helping me

Overclocking will definitely help. But make sure you have an aftermarket cooler.
I'm assuming you've set the game up right, but if you think not, make screenshots of your settings and post them here.
