twilght princess (GC) don´t fully work on load/ new game screen

when i press start in title screen, the game exhibit a mansage saying the (memory card in slot a is corrupted. would you like to format the memory card in slot a?), than the game give to choice yes or no, but when i try to select the option, the only bottom woking in the emulator is the A bottom which is stuck on no option
