twighlight princess gamepad config help

hi im having a problem with my gamepad fot TP. its a standard gamepad and so far seems to go ok. now i have the wooden sword and i put the swing motion to a button lets say button 1. but now when i pull out my sling shot and try to target with z which is button 2+ or wtvr then link automatically swings his sword and i cant target anymore. i double checked and the 2+ button is only for z why does it do that? also there seems to be a slight delay when i press 1 to swing the sword is this normal? whats your config for TP on a regular gamepad? its a little confusing for me as i never played the game so i dont know what its supposed to be in the first place.

Are you talking about the wii version of TW? And what gamepad do you have the wii mote? All of this 1 2+ stuff leads me to think one or the other... If you want to play TW use the wii game with the wii-mote or the GC version with the retro pad.
