I never thought about hooking up my 360 controller to Dolphin as a Wiimote. Thanks for the tutorial! This might come in handy for those point-and-shoot games that are just sucky..

Same thing happened to me... Stuck in 1st person missle-mode as well.

Played around with the buttons but still stuck. I gave up and basically concluded that something was bugged in the guide ( could be wrong.)

I tried coming up with an optimal gamepad config independently, and I pretty much just ended up just recreating what's in the image... Anyway, I'm just going to describe it for people who find text easier to follow.

First, the orientations:
  • Check "Sideways Wii Remote"
  • Bind Tilt Right to "LB"
  • Bind IR Hide to "NOT LT"
The image prefers the right triggers and buttons on the right side; I prefer the ones on the left side. Anyway, that gives you a sideways WiiMote. You can then hold down "LB" to point it up, and "LT" to point it at the screen.

The D-Pad is bound to the emulated WiiMote's D-Pad, of course, and the left stick to its IR directions (Up, Down, Left, Right).

For the button bindings, I did:

A: East face button
B: North face button
1: West face button
2: South face button

That gives you shoot and jump where you expect them. When you're in first person view (holding down LT) and using the left stick to move your POV, you hold down the North face button to aim and then press the East face button to fire a missile. That's about as ergonomic as I can get it. Press LB and the East face button to replenish missiles. Press the East face button on its own to toggle ball mode.

While we appreciate the thorough, in-depth explanation, please be aware of our rules about necroposting:

Quote:Necroposting: In the "Dolphin Emulator Discussion and Support" and "Dolphin Site" subforums, do not revive a discussion older than 6 months unless your post adds something meaningful or otherwise contributes to the thread. Please create a new thread about your subject instead. Stickied threads and all other subforums are exempt, however, and users can freely post there regardless of how old the topics are.

It'd be better to make a newer, separate thread in the future for optimal configurations.
