Hi y'all,

I'm new to Dolphin, if I say something stupid please forgive me.

I am using the "Development snapshot 4.0-8143 Nov 12th, 2015". version of Dolphin on my Macbook air. I also have two copies of visualboyadvance-m. All three emulators work fine on their own, but to play Zelda Four Swords Adventures multiplayer you have to connect all three programs together.

I've found a couple of older videos on youtube explaining how to connect older versions of these programs together, but I have not been able to get the current versions to work together.

Here's one video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Med-OlKcVfw&t=5s

Do y'all have any idea what I should do to get this working? Do any of y'all have experience with connecting Dolphin to visualboyadance-m?

I think this would be a fun game to play with a romantic partner. I love co-op games.

Thanks y'all!

Well, we can't help you unless you use 5.0 or newer. 5.0 is the minimum version we support on the forums. The process on newer revisions of Dolphin is the same, but the GBA <-> GCN connection has always been finicky in Dolphin in new and old versions.

Where exactly does the process fail for you? Does VBA-M just freeze after the BIOS flashes the "Game Boy Advance" logo? Does FSA acknowledge the presence of the emulated GBAs? Not sure, but I believe LLE audio is required for this to work consistently as well; do you have that enabled?

Ok cool, I got the 5.0 version of Dolphin.

My question is in the connecting the VBA-M emulators to dolphin. Can you explain that process step by step with Dolphin 5.0?

Thank you so much!

The video you linked to basically tells you everything you need to do. I don't believe the process has changed for end-users in a long time. Key thing is to make sure you use the GBA BIOS and enable the JoyBus connection.

I'm not sure the JoyBus option is enabled by default on OS X builds of VBA-M. That's probably why you might be running into a wall. The JoyBus option is definitely available in the Windows version though.
