Trouble with Controls??

Alright, so I've been trying to play some games but my controls are obviously stuffed up. For example, on the startup screen for Animal Crossing: City Folk I can't press A. You know that City Folk is a Wii game right? So it's more likely to work if you configure an emulated Wiimote and not a GC pad
