I feel like I've been to the end of the internet and back trying to fix this on my own, but sadly I'm still stuck.

I'm trying to play the Japanese version of Animal Crossing: City Folk, using Dolphin 3.0 for Mac. The game loads in just fine, everything looks perfect. My problem is that I can't move the cursor around the screen. I tried the default settings and nothing worked, so I tried changing them around. The only buttons that seem to move are the ones I designated for "tilt" and those only move my cursor to roughly four places on the screen. When they keys are combined I can move the cursor in a small circle in the middle of the screen. Since I need to type in my name for the game (later I'll need to use this same interface often for writing letters), and the d-pad doesn't seem to do anything for this screen, I'm kind of stuck.

I'm not sure if this is a game-specific problem or if I'm just clueless when it comes to configuring an emulated wiimote. This is my first time trying out this emulator. If anyone can direct me to anything — faqs, other forum posts, a youtube video — anything at all that can help me I would be most appreciative.

By the by, I'd just like to thank any and everyone who made this emulator possible. I hope that I get this figured out and really get to enjoy all of your hard work : )

Thank you for your help! I actually wasn't aware of this, however it hasn't fixed my problem. I have all the keys configured for the nunchuck, and yet none of them seem to do anything. Is it possible that I've somehow disabled it?

I should probably have posted these in the first place, sorry about that. Here you go:

nunchuk_config.png

These are the screens within the game that I'm having trouble with. The cursor moves to four separate locations and I can hit only a few select buttons on the keyboard. In the menu screen I can't hit any of the buttons along the bottom, so I can't check the map or look at my items etc. Like I said, the buttons designated for tilt are used to navigate these screens, so I'm not having a problem moving the character around at all, it's just these specific screens:

The IR settings looks a little bit strange to me... why do you use the up-down keys instead of the mouse?

I see now that this is the real issue. In the wiimote configuration window you seemingly choose the one device you're going to use, so I thought I had to pick either the mouse or the keyboard. I've tried messing around with it since reading your post, but I'm not having any luck.

The settings you mentioned for some reason don't work for me. I thought this might be because the default settings use a device called Apple IR, which I didn't even know I had to begin with. So I used the drop down menu to select my mouse from the list of devices within the Configure Control window, then set the input as Axis Y- . However, after I close and reopen the window the drop down menu reverts back to using the Apple IR device and has changed the input to "`Input/0/iMac’s mouse #1`Axis Y-". I thought that maybe it would work anyway, but when I played the game again nothing happened when I moved the mouse at all with these settings or the defaults.

I've tried two different mice, the first one being my wireless magic mouse, the second one being an old logitech usb optical mouse. Neither have produced any results.

Is it possible, to deactivte the "Apple IR"? If yes, do that.

And instead of the Apple IR, use your preferred mouse.

I managed to turn the Apple IR off (for anyone who wants to know, you go to System Preferences>Security>General>Disable remote control infrared receiver), and that seems to have solved the problem. Now after messing around with various configurations I've been able to get the cursor to move around the screen to select things. For whatever reason I have to leave the main device set as my mouse in order to get it to work. I also had to set my mouse movements as the tilt controls for this specific game.

I'm not sure if it's the game design itself or not, but it's nearly impossible to type out a name by using the tilt controls. The cursor only moves when you exaggeratedly shake the mouse and then it immediately shifts back to center. Oh well though, maybe I'll get really good at it after some practice.

Thank you for all of your help, I'm now able to play the game on my computer, which is really amazing :)
