Reposting this here too.

I spent hours trying to get MKA 1 & 2 working, to no avail. But then I came across this post in another forum that explains the process step by step, and I finally got it working:

You have to use two different triforce branches to make the games work.

The links for the specific Triforce builds seem to have disappeared from the main website.

Hi guys. Long time reader here. First time poster.
I thought I would post about a few extra steps that I took while setting up Dolphin Triforce which have helped with running MK GP1 on my arcade cab and sim rig. If you are not playing on a cab or sim rig with a mapped start button this probably won’t help you.
The reason I did this was because I wanted players to be able to start this game on my cabinet without having to press F1 on a keyboard. I don’t leave a keyboard out, and I feel this completely breaks the “arcade experience”.
Ok
First of all I recommend adding a portable.txt file into ALL of your dolphin installation folders so that each version has its own save files.

I followed the instructions posted on arcadecontrols.com for installing and setting up GP1.
I ran the game on dolphin TF 309 and created a savestate (shift/F1 by default) IMMEDIATELY after adding credits. Then I exited the game and closed dolphin.
I then copied the savestate "MK-GP1.s01" located in the user/statesave folder in Dolphin 309 and pasted it into the same folder in Dolphin 315. (NOTE- your savestate could be labeled something else in this statesave folder, ie. relsab)
Then I loaded up 315 and changed the hotkey for load savestate 1 from the default of F1 to my mapped player 1 start button (this happens to be 1 on my arcade cab).
Now when a player selects GP1 from my frontend and presses start they are actually loading the savestate without even realizing it. This doesn’t affect gameplay because the gas pedal button is used normally for game menu selections.

I hope this helps somebody else.
Junky

in both GP 1 and 2 I get stuck on the "do you have a Mario card" screen, is there a way to fix this?

Is there a way to link two PCs for two player games (on two screens) like the arcade?

It can apparently be done via a home network on the latest Mario Kart arcade DX in Teknoparrot. It's one of those games that really needs to be played with friends to be any fun...
