So I'm trying to play through Star Ocean: Blue Sphere in my spare time. The text is all in Japanese, which isn't a huge problem. I can read most of it just fine (at least I think I can) but there are some parts that I can't seem to figure out. Obviously, I'm not a native speaker, and most of what I know comes from studying grammar books, practice sentences, and phrases from anime (mostly Bleach). I know some users here are from Japan so maybe you guys could help me out with a few passages, and maybe I can learn some new things. Why not go to a dedicated language board? I'd rather have gamers and the Dolphin community help me out
Plus, too lazy to sign up on yet another website.
So here's one sentence that's been giving me trouble. Note, I found a webpage that had all of the intro scene's text, so I'll include it for reference. If the text looks like garbage, open the file up in something that can read Unicode.
What I came up with was "No one likes looking like this" which sounds better than "No one likes this kind of appearance" (my more literal translation?) I just want to be sure I'm roughly getting the meaning correct. How would you write this in English?
Also, here's another one that I am unsure about:
Is the "っと" part slang or some sort of dialect? I can understand that the sentence means something to the effect "With this, everyone is safe" but I've never seen something like "無事っと"
Thanks to anyone that can help me. I've had this game for a while, but I really want to play it sometime soon :3
