I'm copying my savegames that way:
Copy in your old version the two folders "title" & "tmp" in User\Wii\ to exact the same folder in your new version. This worked for me just fine with Zelda TP. If you decide to copy the "shared2" folder, too your new version will maybe crash. I think that happens because the options you can choose vary between several version and the new version may doesnt understand the old config file....
