Well what im wondering is, how would i go about transferring game cube memory card saves and wii game saves to a computer and then get it to where dolphin can use them.

I would like to do it the easiest or cheapest (ie not have to really buy anything extra) way if possible.

What i have:
-working gamcube and Wii consoles (neither are hardware or software modded). And i havent updated/played my wii in forever, and i think its running a very low firmware, like 2.x something lol
-both official gamecube memory cards, and a nyko memory card (tho can transfer data to either, if it matters)
-USB flash drives and i also have a SD card (its a microSD > SD thing i have for my phone, it should work im assuming), and blank dvd-rs tho i dont think that matters anyway.
-If needed i have gamecube/wii game i can boot.

So im wondering, how can i get my gamecube saves (and if there is any difference between nintendo mc and nyko off brand ones id also like to know how to do it both ways), and my wii saves transferred to my computer.

I would prefer doing it w/o any modding, but will do a softmod if needed (and maybe links to good guides would be cool too Tongue).
And then once dumped to flash drive or sd card, and put on my computer, what do you need to do to use them with dolphin.

Though my main concern is a solution to my situation, but would also like to hear of other ways if possible aswell (like if you only have a nintendo mc or only an off brand), or if you only have a gc w/o a wii, or if you have a wii with a different FW, etc. Thats not really necessary, but im planning on making a guide soon, and would like to include this aspect of it, and would like to know all areas of it, but mostly i atleast want my saves Tongue

so ya would appreciate help, since im kind of sick of trying to search
for it, and dont wanna spend hours doing trial and error lol

I know its asking for quite alot (tho again just my specific situation would be enough [Image: tongue.gif]), but ill say thanks alot in advanced ^^

Hello there. Smile
For Wii games:
Just go onto your Wii and navigate to the save data manager. Then copy any save file you wish to copy to Dolphin to your SD card. Then, go into Dolphin and go to Tools->Wii Save Import and find your save file. It should be located within SD Card Root\private\wii\title\ and in one of the folders located there, there should be a data.bin file. That's what you want to import. For example, to import my Skyward Sword save, I had to go to G:\private\wii\title\SOUE\ and select data.bin, press Ok, and it imported the save file. Done. Big Grin

For Gamecube games:
This one requires a way to boot a homebrew app. You don't necessarily have to softmod your wii. I will try to help you do it without softmodding.
First, update your Wii to 4.3, then go here: http://please.hackmii.com/ You can find your MAC address by going to Wii Settings->Console Information. Once entered into the fields on the site, make sure "Bundle the HackMii Installer for me!" is checked and enter the capcha. Then click the "Cut the Red/Blue wire" button and you should be downloading it. Now, copy the the contents to your SD card but don't remove your SD card yet. Download this: https://code.google.com/p/gcmm/downloads/detail?name=gcmm_1.4a.rar&can=2&q=
Now open the file you just downloaded and inside that file, navigate to apps->gcmm and copy the boot.dol to the SD card root and overwrite the files when it asks you to. Now all you need to do is remove your SD card, place it in your Wii, go to the Wii Mail (click the envelope icon on your menu), and find the letter that has a bomb in it. Clicking it should load up the application. You should be prompted to either press A for SD or B for USB, press A. Now you will be in the GCMM menu. All you need to do now is press B and the Minus button on your Wiimote and press A for slot A and B for slot B and it should make a Raw backup of the memory card you selected. Now exit the app by pressing home and remove the SD card. Place it in your PC and inside the SD card go to SD Card Root\MCBACKUP and locate the Raw file. Rename it to MemoryCardA.USA.raw and copy it to C:\Program Files\Dolphin\User\GC
After that, you should be done. Smile If you have any further questions or have any problems, either post here or PM me. Enjoy!

EDIT: I forgot to mention that you need to rename the boot.dol file to boot.elf before copying it. Sorry about that.

Well you were a great help, thank you very much ^^

It did take me a few hours though, because my SD is a micro SDXC 64GB, which wii doesnt like i found out lol
Then i had to find out how to format it to fat32, since the XC only normally allows exfat.
But i found http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm and that works really well.

After that i was able to dump my save no problem.

But i still have the problem with super smash brawl and mario kart, since it wont let me copy the file to SD.
and it seems i need to softmod to do that :3

But i think i can find it from here, you gave me the point in the right direction for me to do it myself.

(btw nice computer specs Tongue, we almost have the same hardware, other then you have a 1600x900 17" screen, and the ability to get newer amd drivers.... f'in toshiba and their outdated drivers and them making it so you cant use normal amd drivers....)

Glad I could help out. Smile In order to copy saves for Brawl, you would have to install Priiloader and disable copy protection. That's what I did. Sorry I couldn't help you to do this without softmodding. I wish there was a better way, but sadly, there isn't.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. Big Grin

Also, thanks for the compliment on the PC. Smile

Ya it was a pain just doing this, since the sd card is for my galaxy S3, so i had to take that out, back up everything to my computer, format it, and i have to do all this at once since otherwise ima have to keep transferring data back n forth.
and ehhh, ima have to do it again for the video guide i was thinking of making :3

also btw just wondering, is there by any chance a way to backup gamecube sames w/o a wii? like using a gamecube, or possibly other means, i wonder how well something like http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-26-49-en-70-1yg.html works lol (for tutorial purposes wanted to cover more areas then just my situation. like someone may have a gamecube but not a wii, and play gc games on dolphin and want their gc saves)

I don't think that would be possible unless you bought that adapter. The gamecube was very difficult to mod and, therefore, access to things such as this would be near impossible without an exploit like the PSO hack.

Well sorry but i cant seemt o find too much concrete information on this lol

Ok i installed homebrew on my wii, and did the IOS patch (since my wii is a newer one that is post 2008, and from my understanding, thats what i needed to do).
I installed priiloader, and ran that, and it finished its thing.

Now how exactly do i remove copy protection after this? :3
i went to the wii saves and the option is still greyed out.

I got the homebrew browser and got 2 backup save apps, and neither work.
One
that i have to put disc in just gives me an error when trying to copy the save, and the other one
just crashes the wii (memory dump, aka blue screen on windows).

Ok. Turn your Wii off and before you turn it on, make sure the reset button is pressed. It should take you to a white/black menu. In the settings option, you sshould see "Remove No-Copy Save File Protection" Enable that.

thank you so much ^^
Finally able to get all gc and wii saves to my computer, yay. Now just need to get a bluetooth stick and a sensor for my the computer, either buy a wireless one or do the mod of the wired one so i can actually try playing wii on my computer XD

You have been way more the helpful, filling in the pieces i was missing in this whole process lol

Just 1 more question and im done i promise Tongue
how do you do about dumping gc/wii isos from the wii console? just curious about how to do it with the wii (for tutorial purposes).
i just bought a dvd drive that could read gc and wii games and bought an adapter to connect it externally (well it was made for hdds but work the same), and ripped games that way, since it was the easiest route lol

You would use USB Loader GX and insert a disc. Once the disc is in, there is a button you can press in USB Loader GX that copies the disc to the USB drive plugged into the back of your wii. Smile

Also, don't sweat it. I love helping out. Big Grin Just glad I could be of assistance.
