Hey guys I have a asus g73j which has a i7-720qm, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 with vram 1gb, 8gb ddr3 ram. I want to run the game with this laptop and hdmi it to a big tv. The problem is I keep messing with settings and I can't for the life of me get the game to run smooth at 1080p with 3x native resolution. Do any of you guys know what I need to do? Or is my laptop not good enough? Any help would be appreciated! Just so you know though I'm anal about visuals, I do NOT want to lower the resolution at all. I wan't 1080p and 3x native. Its the only way the game looks good to me. If it's impossible for my laptop to run it at that resolution then I'm just gonna forget it.
*Edit* Almost forgot i have Dolphin 3.0-735

It sounds like a CPU bottleneck. You can check to make sure: does it run at full speed at 1x Native?

I have a couple of suggestions:

1) Try using 3.0-750. It should provide a small speed up. 3.0 would be the fastest but the lines across the screen look horrible and EFB->RAM (which fixes the issue) causes big slowdowns.
2) If your goal is just 1080p and you're using a recent build like 735, I would just use 2.5x IR, which is already over 1080p.
3) Post up your full Dolphin settings (screenshots) so we can better help you.
Desktop:
OS: Windows 7 64 bit
CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K @ 4.4 GHz
GPU: EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Factory OC'ed)
RAM: 16 GB @ 1600 MHz
Dolphin Revision:3.0, 3.0-784, 3.5, latest 3.5

It doesn't run at full speed at 1xnative. I get barely 25 fps, most of the time its slightly lower than that and when an enemy appears it goes to 20 fps and lower. Also isn't 3.0-739 the latest version, and there is no 64 bit version yet.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 is good enough for 3x IR , no AA , 16x AF
However , i7 720qm and i7 740qm are too weak for most games
For dolphin , CPU microarchitecture and CPU clock speed are the most inportant
Minimum CPU for Zelda SS : i3/i5/i7 @ 2.8GHz no less

Laptop:
Clevo W230SS : 3200x1800 IPS | i7 4700MQ @ 3.6GHz (Intel XTU + Triple fan mod) | GTX 860M GDDR5 | 128GB Toshiba CFD SSD | 16GB DDR3L 1600MHz
Aspire 715 43G : 1080p 144Hz |  R5 5625U @ 4.3GHz | Nvidia RTX 3050 4GB | 500GB WD SSD  | 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
Mini PC ::
G3258 @ 4.6GHz | ELSA GTX 750 | Asrock Z87E ITX | 600W SFX 80+ Gold Silverstone + SG06-LITE | Corsair Vengeance 8GB 2000MHz | Scythe Kozuti + Ao Kaze | 45TB 2.5" Ex HDD (in total) , Zelda Gold Wiimote , LE Wii Classic Controller , Gold LE PS3 DualShock , BlackWidow Chroma ,
Now Playing : Xenoblade Definitive Edition on Yuzu - Switch Emu

Dang, so that means I'm screwed? Sounds like it. One last question for you guys. Before I even try Super Mario Galaxy 2 is it going to be the same story?

SMG is even more demanding than Zelda SS
Asus G73J is a gaming laptop which mean it can be overclocked (do at your own risk) . You can use "SetFSB" though it's not free
Other thoughts :
+Buy a faster gaming laptop
+Build a pc which is much cheaper
+Disassembly that laptop to replace the i7 720qm with i7 640M or i7 920xm/ 940xm (ebay.com)+ OC to 3.0GHz (do at your own risk)

Better get a new desktop instead of a new notebook Wink Certainly better for Dolphin.

* Core i5-3570k
* Z77 MoBo
* nVidia Geforce GTX 550 Ti/GTX 560/ OR AMD Radeon HD 68XX
* 8GB RAM
* decent CPU cooler for overclocking to 4.2GHz

-> That's the ultimate Dolphin machine Smile
