Time to hook up a controller?

Information
Vague thread names aside, I would like to ask the community a question:

I have been playing the Dolphin emulator for a few good months now, and had lots of fun doing it. It was only recently (I don't know how i missed this for so long) that one can in fact connect a XBOX360 controller to the computer and use it for Dolphin-gaming.

The newest gaming project is Xenoblade which (great game that it is) is not done justice on a keyboard.

The problem is that i do not in fact OWN an XBOX360 controller, and am for that reason considering purchasing one.

I just want your advice, is this worth it? Will a comfortable controller work fluently for Dolphin? Is it really worth paying retail price for an XBOX360 controller with exclusivity for Dolphin?

Or should I just grin and bear it with the keyboard?

Thanks for any advice Smile

The problem is, that I'm a student, and for the aforementioned reason, very poor. A XBOX360 controller costs the better part of 90 USD (I wish i was kidding) so this is not a decision to be take lightly on my account.

Have you, yourself (or anyone reading this thread) played Xenoblade with an XBOX360 controller? Does it sail smoothly? Are there some Wii games that HATE the XBOBX360 controller?

Thanks for the reply!

This is what I personally use on my emulation rig:

It's a cheap but yet robust XBOX 360 look alike controller, Logitech F310 with USB cord.
Controllers don't have to cost much, but I assumed you only wanted a real XBOX 360 controller.

I do have a good 'ol Wii-controller for my console , but i found it was not designed for the "larger handed gentleman". I have some freakishly huge hands.

The only controller that offered any comfort was the XBOX360's controller, as it itself, is huge.

Is connecting one of these bad-boys a hassle when it comes to configuring it for the Dolphin emulator?

Thanks for all the respondsHeart

No it's pretty straight forward configuring a controller in Dolphin, don't worry about it. If something is confusing, the forums is always open 24/7

I would recommend getting and XBox 360 gamepad, as most gamepads don't have analogue triggers. I was working with a XBox compatible controller until a few days ago, when I got a wireless receiver. It isn't that big a jump from XBox compatible to Microsoft's own, I just wanted to use the controllers I already had, so I'd recommend a XBox compatible pad if you want a good pad on a budget. I picked up my MadCatz pad for £12, and that kind of thing is usually cheaper in the states, so will be closer to $10-$20 than $90.
