What are your thoughts about it? Do you think it has potential? In this link you can find the specs.

As if we don't have enough android consoles already. Yawn. You're much better off with a nettop running windows.

As for specs they're being as vague as they usually are.

It's not a "Game Console", it's a set top box. It's a friggin Roku with an optional gamepad.

Every company needs a game console. I mean, that's how it was way back when...

But it's basically like very other Android "gaming console" out there, except it looks to be x86 (Intel Atom) instead of ARM. Not really into Android gaming, and the only thing I would want to do with something like this is run emulators on my TV, but I've had a device for that purpose for almost a year. I think this is just Google being Google in that they have to get into everything and anything as a company. The market is duly saturated already (thanks in part to their own efforts, no less).

We all know how that went.

Why do people think it is a gaming console? It's Google's first android TV device. The game controller is sold seperately.

You guys are SOO right. Why does Google always have to come up with products that already exist?
We already had Yahoo, AltaVista, Lycos, Excite etc. before they came along with their lame search engine.
We already had iOS, Windows Mobile, Palm, Symbian, Blackberry etc. before they came along with their lame mobile platform.

You gotta wonder why they keep trying, nothing they ever make seems to succeed...

Some of the things Google makes do succeed, it's just that they have a habit, as a company, of seemingly making one of everything, trying to enter every digital market they can, and their track record is hit or miss depending on what products you're looking at. Most of us here seem to be groaning because we think it'll be another miss.

@tuiedj

You're cherry picking examples. Google has failed before to break into well established markets (google+ for example). I see nothing innovative here that isn't already done well by its competitors so I remain skeptical. And most of these features are already built into most HDTVs made in the last 3 years.
