As the title states, I'm thinking of upgrading my PC. My specs are in the Spoiler at the bottom. I'm on a limited budge (as in, somewhere around $500), so I need to be selective on what I upgrade. For sure I'm changing out my MoBo (Motherboard), as my onboard network card is trashed, and the case has to be upgraded to fit my new Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus. I can't decide on the brand/model of the MoBo I should get, either, and if I change my CPU make, what brand of MoBo there. The only deal is, I'll most likely have money left over to upgrade one or two other parts. What would you suggest I upgrade, and what brand etc.?

I play games like Skyrim, sometime I'll use Dolphin, I play Bf4 alot. I definitely plan on getting Witcher 3, and getting Black Ops 3 & Fallout 4 upon release. I know I can play them with these specs, but I want to do an upgrade anyway to be safe

PS. Thanks to windows 10, my GT 440 Co-GPU is useless, and I need to take it out anyway, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Specs
Spoiler: (Show Spoiler)
CPU: AMD FX-8320e
GPU: GTX 670
MoBo Asrock 970 pro r2.0
Ram: 8 Gb GeIl RAM
PSU: 800-watt Raidmax Vampire
Intel i5-6200u 2.3 Ghz
Intel HD 520 Graphics with custom driver

8gb DDR4, unknown clock (4gb Onboard, 4gb on a stick)
1366x768 Touch screen
1Tb Hard-drive with 4 partitions
Reloaded with Windows 7 (Screw Windows 10)

Benchmarks put it around the same performance as an NVidia GT 720M. Nothing special, but it runs nice.

KKDo you want a new PC or do you wanna upgrade components

Edit: Wow I'm stupid.

Well the first thing I would do is get a newer graphics card like the 750ti, Asus ones go for like 120$ these days. GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121855

Then with the rest I would try to get an i5 processor and a new mobo for it, that maybe around 400$ CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117372

i7 4790k (4.4GHz with turbo ) + Asrock H97 Pro4 = $400
You still have $100 for case
i7 4790k was the fastest CPU for Dolphin 2 months ago , it's just a bit slower than i7 6700k which is the fastest CPU atm

Any suggestions on a case? Right now mine is very generic and badly needs upgrading. Anything that can fit my new Cooler. I've got my eyes on a BitFenix Ronin, but I'm not completely sure

And a whole new DDR4 memory doesn't sound good to his budget . i5 is slower than i7 , period
Keep in mind that he's using 8 cores CPU , i5 is a downgrade , not an upgrade
@Op , you're Hyper 212 plus is too big , I doubt it will fit any mid tower without removing sth . I think you should get full tower . Spending over $100 for a case doesn't sound good for me imo , you should invest a SSD instead \

Nope! The G3285 is a dual core chip without hyperthreading and it runs circles around 8 core AMD chips many times the price, even on tasks that use parallelization a lot! The 8 core AMDs only really are better in extreme number crunching, and by that point it's better to just use the GPU for that.

A 4690K would be a huge upgrade from an AMD FX-8320e!

Make 2 virtual machines (vagrant/docker), fire something inside them and then try to use web browser Wink
If someone is using PC not only for gaming, but also for work (Programming, Video/Photo editing, 3D Graphic, Music) than 4/8 cores is a blessing Wink
