The Wind Waker FPS drops.

Starting to relive my childhood, reminiscing about the good ol' gamecube, and stumbled across dolphin the other day. I got The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and I'm averaging at 30 to 31 fps. However, the second I get my sword out, fps drops to around 15, and makes it look slow motion. I have a gaming computer with pretty good specs,

AMD VISHERA FX-8350 OC 4.4 GHz
Nvidia GTX 970 G1 Gaming Edition
8 Gb Ripjaws X
Win 8

So I don't know what the problem is here. It's crazy how I can run next gen games better than consoles, but I can't run games from over ten years ago without a frame issue. Is there any solutions to this? Huh  Currently in school and I'll post some pictures when I get home in about a hour or so.

Thanks for the help,
Ben.

Dolphin runs best on a quad core cpu with a high single thread performance. Your cpu has a low single thread performance(like all amd cpus) and 8 cores. Half of your cpu is not used in Dolphin, which explains the difference between pc games and dolphin.

Update to the latest Dolphin version like Link_to_the_past told you, that runs much faster than 4.0.2.

Since you have a nvida gpu, try opengl, that should be faster than d3d for you.

And if nothing else helps, create a hotkey for switching between efb to texture and efb to ram. And then switch to efb to texture after you started the game. This should run faster, but it will break pictures taken with the pictobox, so make sure to switch back when taking pictures.

I thought Dolphin only utilized two cores?

When using lle audio, it's 3 threads. There's also the gpu driver thread and general background threads. That's a bit too much for 2 cores.

On dolphin 4.0.2 I barely get 30 fps but when an enemy AI activates I went to 20.
Latest dev: 2x res no lag
