Just curious what's up with the way the wiki lists timezones, took a while to hunt mine down as it lists New Zealand's timezone as Pacific/Auckland, When Auckland is neither the country nor capital, just a large city.

I mean surely if it was to reference a city instead of the country it'd go for the capital no?
Sorry if this is the wrong place to be asking.

Whatever the time zone, anything that references it can point to any city/country within that time zone. In the U.S. Central Standard Time (UTC -6) generally refers to Chicago, and down south generally refers to Mexico City. Obviously Chicago is not the capital of Illinois, but Mexico City is a capital.

It comes down to what city is most easily identifiable in a given time zone. I've never been to New Zealand; I know nothing about it, not even the slightest bit of its geography. I have know idea what the capital is without googling it. However, I have heard of Auckland here or there, for whatever reason. People use major and memorable cities in a region so time zones can be selected easily even by people who aren't entirely familiar with certain areas. E.g. if you want to set up your time zone in GNU/Linux with KDE, just select the city you best recognize:

The wiki likely uses the tz database, which is often used with GNU/Linux systems. Here's a full list of them.
