If we compare the data between the six cores Home processor, that is :-
1. Intel Core i7 980X Extreme Edition
2. AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition

Intel has extreme edition, which has naturally extreme price...($1k, I will rather buy a full AMD setup:p). AMD has launched it as its regular lineup.

Due to being extreme edition, it is natural for intel to have an upperhand on AMD, but AMD is at par atleast...So, performance is not that much differ between them.

If we discuss price, we do not require to discuss it...

Intel's i7 uses a whole different architecture, so mobo is an issue, while AMD has somewhere around 170+ supportive mobo's....

As overclocking is concerned, i7 is very unstable in 4+ GHz, while in AMD, it is just like butter, as it is a black edition...It has base clock of 200 MHz and clock multiplier can be extended upto 20 times, so at stock, max speed is itself 4 GHz...

If I forgot about some point, do remind me....

I partially agree with that. Although neither brand is OVERALL better they do release micro-architectures that are clearly superior/inferior to their competitor in every way, and often trade blows every couple of years. For example athlon was superior to pentium III until pentium IV came out and kicked it's ass, then athlon xp came out took the crown from pentium IV, prescott took the crown back for intel but only for a few months until athlon 64 came out and took it back for amd, I could go on and on.

but THAT's what i exactly said, only shorter and no arguments. you're basically saying the same thing. but in overall don't you think both processors ARE good. one might be less good than the other, but no fanboy(yes, not even a fanboy), unless a 10year old child, sais one of the processor makers are trash, because it's simply not true by ANY stretch of fanboyism. altho the phenoms are weaker than i5/i7, no one sais they're not good...each processor has a good side and a bad side period.

so my idea still stands. both are good in their ways.

The best performance => Intel® Core™ i7 980-X Extreme Edition
The best performance per thaler => AMD Phenomâ„¢ II X6 1090T

A perfect processor? There is none! The perfect processor has unlimited power and drains no energy (or produces it by itself with a solar panel). Wink

Not that perfect, the best processor in every field, in individual fields, etc....

Practice makes the Man Perfect, but there is nothing like perfect. So, why practice...???

You mean the best processor in ONE field? Modern x86 quadcores aren't that great in a smartphone. Wink
Do you mean power consumption, rendering, games (pc), games (console), games (handheld), ... ?

Do you have more points? Why is an Intel better? Why is an AMD cheaper? Why do you call ATI "great" but don't even mention nVidia? Wink
