So the other day I bought an aftermarket CPU cooler (thermaltake frio ock) and have actually been noticing some inconsistencies with its temperatures. You see, at idle (when using google chrome or playing something like league of legends etc) the temperature goes up to 48-50 degrees which is not bad imo, but when i use dolphin the cpu temp actually goes DOWN to 41-42C even with my cpu OCed to 3.8GHz. When i exit the emulation the temperature goes to 26-27C, any idea as of why this happens?

The CPU is probably throttling. Download monitoring software and observe what exactly happens during emulation.
CPU: Intel 3570k with Corsair H60 watercooler @4.1ghz
GPU: Nvidia Asus GTX780 @1140/6600
PSU: Corsair 750W
RAM: Corsair 8gig DDR3-1600
MOBO: Asrock Z68m ITX
HDD: 500gb SSD EVO
CASE: Lian-Li PC-Q08 mini-ITX case
OS: Windows 7 x64

I use a fully configured emulator frontend (Maximus Arcade) to play every console & arcade game instantly

Not really, while I'm emulating it states that the cpu is constantly running at 3.8GHz

You got a PWM CPU-fan? Maybe the fan RPM just goes up when stressing the CPU more, which can cause the temp. to drop. When your CPU is idle the fanspeed is low = a little more heat.

Yup, but as far as i know the fan is always set on the highest speed which is 2300rpm, maybe it just performs better under cpu stress? Either way the lower the temp while using dolphin the better so i'm not complaining
