Hello everybody,

I just tried to play Super Mario Galaxy after a long time but now I encountered the Sun problem.
In some Wii games, like the Wii Series, whenever the sun is visible on the screen, there's a big performance slowdown. To solve this
problem, you have to activate "Skip EFB access from CPU". In Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort, skipping
the EFB access isn't a big deal, but Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 need the EFB access.

It's strange that these games have this problem now, too. When I played these games back in 2014, they
didn't have the Sun Problem. What can I do now?

I tried it on 5.0-1943, and for reference on 5.0 stable. The stable version doesn't have the problem.

Thank you for your help!
These are the specs of my newest laptop:

XMG Pro 17
Windows 10 x64
Intel Core i7-9750H @ 2.60 GHz (4.50 GHz Turbo Boost)
NVidia GeForce RTX 2070 @ 8GB
32 GB RAM DDR4

You should use the bisect tool to find out exactly which version introduced the slowdown.

You are right, the problem isn't there on D3D 11. But I have another strange problem. My laptop crashed twice today. I
even got the Blue Screen of Death! It happened when I shut down Super Mario Galaxy and unplugged the Dolphin Bar.
I forgot what the screen said about the error, but when I get this another time, I'll remember it and tell you.

Did you get BSODs on D3D11 or 12? There are rumblings that D3D12 is going to be on the chopping block eventually, since it's less stable than the other backends and doesn't have anybody who wants to fix it, especially since Vulkan is rapidly developing as a replacement backend that works on more platforms than D3D12 does.

I got the BSOD on both. Yesterday afternoon, I played it first on D3D12, then I had the Sun Problem. I decided to close the game
and unplug the Dolphin Bar, then my computer crashed. I posted this thread here and you said me to use D3D11. I did this and
when I shut down the game, my PC crashed again. But it happened after I unplugged the Dolphin Bar from the USB port.
I don't know if the Bar is the problem. I noticed another weird behaviour: When I close Dolphin, the Wii Remote
used to turn off automatically, but now it only does when I unplug the Bar.

I would be inclined to suspect the Dolphin Bar driver as the reason for the BSOD, as I'm not aware of any problems in Dolphin itself that are known to cause BSODs.

So, I got the BSOD again and now I know it happens every time after I close a game and unplug the Dolphin Bar while Dolphin is still open.
When I don't open a game first or close Dolphin before unplugging the Bar, the BSOD doesn't appear.

The first time I got the BSOD, I checked if I have the driver installed, and noticed that I haven't.
I installed the driver from the disk that came with the Bar but that didn't help.
Then I went to the website of Mayflash and downloaded the latest firmware. I installed it but the error is still there.

I don't know if this helps you but this is what the BSOD says:

Stop Code: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
What Failed: HIDCLASS.SYS
