Before you start working on  texture packs for controller buttons you might want to take a look at this:

Although The Simpsons is currently not supported because the button textures in this game are chopped

Ah, that's such a shame. I'm probably gonna have to wait for better compatibility and more support. 
I'll check out the dump files for Simpsons hit and run aswell and get a general idea of how it looks too.

- Made minor adjustments and tweaks
- Optimized lossless PNG compression (gains of 35-60%)
