The Rise of HLE Audio

On the topic of audio...
In VR the user has head-tracking, and can turn their ears in any direction, or move their ears closer to a sound. Does the emulator know anything about where a sound is coming from? Or does the emulator only get pre-mixed left and right stereo signals? If it just gets the final stereo result, I may have to play the stereo sound back through virtual speakers for players wearing headphones, otherwise turning their head will sound completely wrong. But I guess I can use proper positional audio for the Wiimote speaker if the player is using a Razer Hydra. 11-15-2014, 08:20 PM
CarlKenner: Some games support Dolby Digital output; I don't know if that helps, though.
Otherwise, the emulator would have no idea.
HLE sure made a lot of road since I started using Dolphin. You guys did make incredible progress since then!
I have a question though, I don't know if it's a know issue or not, but with Mario Galaxy 2 some SFX & Musics (Choosing a star, level intro, losing a life, being game over, the sound when you launch from a star after wiggling the wiimote.) are very loud, somehow, well, louder than what they would usually be, is this something known amongst the devs? I used to take LLE when this hit my nerve too much but now Dolphin freezes after 5-6 minutes, IDK why. Still, this is a minor issue, I'm glad the music doesn't cut after playing 5 minutes anymore with HLE. 11-16-2014, 03:54 PM

HLE audio volume issues are a known issue with Zelda ucode games (which SMG2 is one such game). It's just a matter of time until it gets fixed, I suppose. Perhaps this was the source of your problem? 11-16-2014, 08:38 PM
Keep up the good work, I'm still finding these articles quite interesting to read and appreciate the work that goes in to typing them up.

Perhaps this was the source of your problem? Oh, really? That's possible because I always check this option. Will test this out soon! Thanks for the quick answer, by the way. EDIT: You were right, I only needed to uncheck Separate Thread, thanks!
Man, i'm really sorry Audio Emulation was so controversial for you guys.
