Alaster: That's Soundcloud; not my problem. I noticed it too.
The New Era of HLE Audio

Quote:The biggest difference was that version of the µcode used MRAM to emulate ARAM because the Wii doesn't have a dedicated ARAM chip like the GameCube. Quote:Another special thing Pikmin and Animal Crossing was that they had specialized crypto features for connecting to the GBA over a link cable. 2 small issues here, keep up the good work with the articles, their continuing to be very interesting and well written. The first issue should probably state "that the Wii version", while the second issue could probably do with the whole sentence being re-written or something, the problem with how it's currently written should be pretty obvious.

So, it's known that this will miss 5.0, but when is it expected to be merged into a stable release? 5.0.1., perhaps?

Such minor version numbers are only for bug fixes. The only reason 4.0.2 exists is that 4.0 and 4.0.1 both had serious bugs that needed fixing. The HLE fixes will make it into Dolphin 5.5 or 6.0, however many months or years from now it gets released.

So with LLE no longer needed for most of the Zelda ucode titles, does this bring down the CPU requirements to run these games at full speed? I wouldn't need, say, a 4.0+ GHz overclock to get a solid 60fps on the Galaxy games for example?

Yes, the CPU requirements are now lower, assuming that you didn't find the old HLE to be an acceptable way to play the games. The Super Mario Galaxy games are still relatively demanding, though.

Stupid Question. What does the HLE rewrite apply to, has it already happened or has it yet to be merged?

The HLE rewrite applies to these games: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?t...code_games
It was merged in 4.0-7286 and will not be in 5.0. 08-22-2015, 07:22 PM
With this I finally made the switch to using HLE audio by default . Zelda ucode games are the ones I play the most.
CPU: Intel Core i5 4670k @ 4.4GHz

While it does lower requirements (Twilight Princess Hyrule Field runs at full speed now on my laptop) would I not get my hope up for SMG. My Desktop runs the game fine most of the time but some levels (mostly the ones having lots of water in them) still have some minor slowdowns when there are too many Star Bits onscreen. And my desktop has a i5 2500k @ 4.3Ghz. Dunno how much better newer gen intel CPU do though. My question: Is there any reason to use LLE now? How is the non zelda-µcode support? |
