There is no regular dev that I'm aware of that goes by the name of Starlord.

Alex has told me he will be modding them to be even higher res and more detailed.

That's what's called a derivative work, which is not necessarily more legal than using Nintendo's textures unaltered. Thanks for clarifying the situation, but we will not allow this mod on the Dolphin forums unless it stops using Nintendo's textures and any modifications of them.

EDIT: From what I heard on IRC, apparently that doesn't count as a derivative work. Either way, the point that it isn't necessarily more legal stands.

We are fully committed to following the rules and removing all works of Nintendo from our mod.
We are also going to work on our own Textures (But it would be great if we could get help with this, so if anyone is willing to join please drop me a PM).
We are really sorry for the misunderstanding and hope we can turn this project into something every WindWaker fan can be proud of.

Thank you. We won't re-add the links to the old versions of the mod since they still have copyright problems, but you can make a new topic for new versions of the mod if you follow the rules.

Thank you so much and we fully understand. We honestly didnt know we where doing anything illegal when we where making this mod.
We are currently working on a new release that removes all WWHD Textures and just keeps the lighting for now until we work on our own textures.

So if someone wanted to make a Twilight Princess texture pack consisting of the official HD textures of the WiiU version, the only thing that someone can do is publishing a script to rename dumped Cemu textures to use them in Dolphin. And everyone would have to play the entire game in Cemu to dump the textures :p (unless they can be dumped from the ISO easily, but I haven't used Cemu yet).

I think providing the means to get the textures and use them yourself extracting from your own copy of the game (tutorials, scripts, etc) is okay.

I mean, we do that for emulation and game dumps.

Yes. If someone wants to do that, I hope there's a good way to extract textures from the disc image.

Hmm, another question about using dumped textures. Should someone for example dump the textures within Dolphin from (let's say for example) Paper Mario N64 and apply an xBRZ 6 upscaling filter to all textures and then upload that as an HD pack. Would that be allowed? This texture pack found at https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-hd-texture-pack-for-animal-crossing-city-folk (Animal Crossing Wii) does that for example by stating: "I'm keeping true to how it originally looks, just improving upon it, I'm filtering each texture with a 6x Scale 4xBRZ filter (It's a high quality image upscaling filter).". I am not giving any critics, rather I am interested to do so myself at some point if allowed. I am not looking forward being banned for not following the rules.

That does sound like it wouldn't be allowed.
