The Legend of Zelda: The Wind waker CPU Benchmark

The family computer died this morning (it's probably fixable, maybe just a broken MBR, maybe something hardware related) but we decided it was time for an upgrade anyway (this thing is circa '08). We're going to buy a new system sometime today. Hopefully there will be some Haswell models to choose from. I think it would be useful to see how current run-of-the-mill OEM systems run Dolphin since a lot of users come here with that kind of hardware and we can show them some numbers when their performance is less than expected.
Won't be able to benchmark Dolphin right away, since we have a few terabytes of data that needs to be shuffled around, programs to reinstall, Windows 8 to eliminate, etc. 07-21-2013, 05:27 AM

My family computer is circa '06, and my family are adamant that it isn't due an upgrade.

The rest of the family will decide what's the most comfortable option for them. They do want Windows 7, but the install disk I have is only 32-bits. If the machine we buy comes with a 64-bit version of Windows 8, I'm going to advocate that they wait for 8.1 to get a native boot-to-desktop solution. Otherwise we'll just replace the 32-bit Windows 8 with 32-bits Windows 7. They're not really sold on 8, but I can entice them with a 64-bit OS (my dad wants the extra RAM). If I really had my way though, they'd be running Linux... @AON3 - Just make it look like it can't boot, and they'll change their minds (or force you to fix it). 07-21-2013, 11:02 AM
Anything I can break, they could bodge. The closest I've successfully got was to change the default browser from IE to a batch file to open a lot of instances of IE. My dad's solution was to uninstall chrome, because, obviously, the issue was that I'd changed the default browser to chrome and that chrome doesn't work. For someone with a reasonable amount of experience with computers, my dad can do a lot of wrong stuff.

Well, turns out we bought an all-in-one computer with an i3-3220 (didn't see any Haswell models on the floor at Best Buy). This thing isn't suitable for running Dolphin (it has an HD 2500, it'd get too hot too fast) but I'll still contribute to the benchmarking probably tomorrow or the day after. Today I'm mostly copying data and reinstalling various programs.

I understand a lot of people are wanting an FX-6300 benchmark, so here you go
Specs: AMD FX-6300 @ 3.50GHz (Stock) 8GB DDR3-1600MHz RAm HD7870 @ 2GB Windows 8 x64 ---------------- Save 1: FPS/VPS/Speed 50/100/166% Save 2: FPS/VPS/Speed 40/81/135% Save 3: FPS/VPS/Speed 67/134/223% ---------------- I'm pretty happy with it, it's powerful for it's price! I'll try some more hard-to-run stuff a bit later, but for now I'm enjoying me some Melee ;P 07-25-2013, 10:26 PM
