I'm using ALSA as well. Ubuntu 12.04 with Unity 2D. It could be that that is the difference. I've noticed that the sound emulation differs depending on whether I use LXDE, Unity 2D, or Unity 3D, but I haven't checked this specific problem with all three; I'll have to do that when I have the time.

If you have Pulseaudio installed, it might interfere with ALSA. I removed it because of Wine and I'm not installing it back just to test it with Dolphin.

This is why I do not use Linux... Anyways... I never had the game crash on me, not once while using windows 7 x64. I would have 2+ hour staright playing sessions and no crashes.

I have a question concerning this game.

I recently got my new computer components (Core i5 3750K, 8 GB RAM, Radeon HD 7870). I overclocked the cpu to 4,2 GHz and Mario Galaxy now works just fine.

The Last Story also works quite well. But now I entered Lazulis (the first big city) and I only have about 20 fps now, which is not very playable. And in the cutscenes it's even sometimes even less (here I also have sound stuttering).

I set the settings as recommended in the dolphin wiki (JITIL for example).

Is there any way to tweak that a little bit? I'd like to play the game, it appears to be quite good.

I'd suggest to use build 6505 in combination with the latest (hashless) builds.
The 6505 build should give you a big speedup, but it might not be as stable as the latest builds.

After you start the game, make sure you switch from EFB Copies to RAM to EFB Copies to Textures.

Don't use Anti-Aliasing.

Try enabling OpenCL and OpenMP Texture Decoding.

Why switching while the game already is started? If that can be an advantage why ain't there an option for doing so in the emulator?

The_Unknown - You would switch between the two because you need to enable EFB to RAM before loading screens so that the textures load correctly and EFB to texture for speed. You can switch quickly between the two by pressing 5 (I think, it might be 4 or 6) when you enable the option "Enable Hotkeys".

If you uncheck Render to Main Window, main window will remain open when you start the game, so you can alt+tab to it and change settings. Settings that cannot be changed while the game is running should be disabled so everything else should be safe to change.

After I activated OpenCL and OpenMP Texture Decoding I had a little speedup of about 2 frames. EFB to RAM/Texture didn't speedup the thing. What's somehow strange: When emulating, the CPU is at most ~65% loaded. Shouldn't this be at 100%, when the frame rate drops?
