I'm wondering if there is a workaround or if this is a legitimate issue. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 for reference. Of all the games I've tried, The Last Story is the only one that has this issue.

Crashes all the time for me as well. A pity, it really renders better on Linux. You might want to try to update your sources and rebuild. The disk i/o error they fixed in the last update seems like something that would make the emulator crash.

I dont think i can fix this problem as i think its down to my crapyy cpu. can someone tell me if an I5 processor can run this game at full speed with 4x internal @1920x1080?if not what cpu would do the job?.i need 2 play this properly.

Yep, the "K" stands for an open mulitplier. And yes, a Core i5-2500k @ 4.5Ghz will do the job.

Using OpenCL texture decoder greatly reduced the FMV stuttering for me, so in my case the game is fully playable on the latest revisions (21-30 fps @3.7 ghz). The game even runs a tiny bit faster (+1-2 fps). However, it might not be a solution for everyone, as I have a pretty strong graphics card (GTX 670).

Strange. With i7-920 (2.9 GHz) and GTX 260 I get 8 fps without OpenCL in Ruli/Lazulis City and 15 fps with it. I thought it would give better returns on more powerful cards. Thanks for the tip.

I can also point out that OpenMP helps the performance, Progressive Scan seems to decrease the stutter a little, Textures to RAM is not needed on new builds and it is better to use higher internal resolution with no AA than lower resolution with AA (if you have to choose like I do, that is). Other than that, I'm still stuck with having to look for half the FMVs on youtube and listening to crappy English acting even if I find them Sad
