Its insane. 15 YEARS and there has been so much progress. It enhances the visuals so much, and it runs nearly every game!. I dont think anyone would complain if they just stop development at this point.

oops i meant epsxe

PCSX2 and the PS2 have very different circumstances from other emulators and consoles, which explains why PCSX2 seems to "lag" behind others. It definitely has some unique (and difficult, and unfortunate) challenges that other emulators and development teams don't face. Before criticizing them, it's important to understand their situation first of all. That doesn't mean some valid points can't be brought up on how PCSX2 is lacking in areas, just that it's not really proper to denounce it as an emulator outright.

The only way things will improve is if people keep working on it (what the PCSX2 team is doing now, albeit slowly), or start from scratch or with a new approach (what Play is doing now). To be fair, XBOX emulation is in worse shape and never had the benefit of even having a large team (it's getting better though). Some things are just hard to pull off in the world of emulation. That's the reality of starting any project actually; sometimes the conditions for success just aren't there, at least initially anyway.

So, if you've got some PCSX2 bashing to do, make sure you know why exactly they have the setbacks and issues that are present today. Like I said, some criticism is fair, but this isn't the place to start throwing poop around at other devs or projects.

But what if he praised epsxe to make fun of pcsx2? I'm confused.

Btw, I saw that PCSX2 devs released a 1.4.0 RC1 build on their Git Hub page. They don't even mention it on their official website, I had to figure it out myself. Also they released unstable 1.2.2 and 1.3.1 versions, I didnt know about that as well. How can people test these builds if they don't even know their existence? I was stuck on 1.2.1 for all this time... (I don't download git builds of PCSX2).

At least, Dolphin official website shows dev builds on the Download section so we can test them.
From France with love.

Either my eyes are bad, or his post was dripping with sarcasm. I read it thoroughly; seems to me he was saying how good it was but, wait, oh sorry, he meant another emulator. It's little trick in English e.g. saying something like "Hey, isn't XYZ the best? Oops, wait, I meant ABC". It's a common way of phrasing that heavily implies sarcasm. It reads like that to me. If.he was praising epsxe, why edit the post but not the title?

Anyway, if piccolo wants to explain things, he can at any time. Mistakes and miscommunication can happen after all. If that's the case then no harm is done when he clarifies what he meant.

Let's hope he was talking about PCSX2 and not... ( Tongue )

The RC version was present at GIT specifically for the official testers to test regressions / issues at the games. the actual 1.4 release will probably come soon on the website.

about 1.3 : It's the version tag for the latest development builds , you can find the binary release for them in the git builds at downloads section of the site.

Don't worry, we don't know what you're trying to say half the time anyways.
