Ah Unreal Tournament that sure brings back memories, at least the GOTY from 1999 which is the only one I played but that's another story.

Triple buffering will fix the 60>30>15>7 FPS problem but you have to use D3DOverrider to enable it on most D3D games since they usually don't include that option.

Quote:By habit I have always turned on VSync for the games I play and they have worked fine with no issues. -Much higher input lag -Locks your framerate to intervals of your refresh rate, if you can't maintain 60 fps or higher with vsync on your framerate will drop to the next interval, which is 30 fps (60, 30, 20, 15, triple buffering will fix this but most games don't support it natively and triple buffering makes the input lag and vram consumption even worse) -It has a performance hit because of the interval waiting, just because your could get 60fps with vsync off doesn't mean you will be able to maintain 60 fps with vsync on Using skyrim as an example turning vsync off makes the difference between 30 fps and 50 fps on ultra settings and noticeably decreases input lag. Quote:Triple buffering will fix the 60>30>15>7 FPS problem but you have to use D3DOverrider to enable it on most D3D games since they usually don't include that option. Yes and it doesn't always work, sometimes it breaks vsync altogether. Not to mention the extra input lag it adds. Quote:Also, the hands seem swapped, right-click = left hand and vice versa... Yeah I did this too. They did it because people are used to using left mouse for attack in most PC games. And since you tend to be right handed (equip weapon in right hand and shield in left) that means they had to assign left mouse to the right hand for this too work. But like you I thought it felt very weird. Quote:What performance do you get? Depends on the settings. I've been playing around a lot with custom settings in the .ini file. With a few simple changes like turning off vsync I can easily hit 45fps on max settings with 4xMSAA + FXAA at 1920 x 1200.

I tried this game, it's a Fallout 3/New Vegas clone with a new map and UI. What a waste.

Go back to your troll cave SS. The only thing this game has in common with FO3 is the engine. It's basically a new elder scrolls game that borrows heavily from oblivion that uses the FO3 engine. The combat and gameplay is based on the elder scrolls, not fallout, although they do share some similarities but that's only because fallout borrowed stuff from the elder scrolls (since they are both developed by bethesda softworks).

This coming from a guy who has never played any of the games in question? It shares the engine and every game-play mechanic. It's a reskin, a recycle. We've all already played this game years ago with another name (except you). Maybe you're the kind of gamer that is impressed with recycled crap, but I'm not.

Then fallout 3 must be just a clone of the elder scrolls IV: oblivion. I have oblivion and this games gameplay mechanics are nearly completely identical to oblivion. Fallout 3 never really interested me, I watched youtube videos and didn't see anything I really wanted. However a simple glance at a few gameplay videos of FO3 will reveal that FO3s combat system is completely different from this game as well as the setting, story, and "weapons" (I don't recall people in FO3 summoning demons to fight people for example, fallout 3 completely lacks anything remotely like the spells in oblivion or skyrim). So yes, I do think your argument was poorly thought out and even though I don't own the game I have tried it before so don't say I have never played it before (I have several friends who love it to death).
So what's left besides story, setting, and combat? Oh yeah, the engine. Quote:We've all already played this game years ago with another name (except you). Really? Then tell me how it ends, I'm dying to know. Also:

I still don't see how any sane person could consider this a rehash of FO3. Sure they share some similarities but by that logic every single video game every made in the entire history of video games would be a rehash of another game since there is no game that has not borrowed anything whatsoever from existing games.

so far i love the game but i have a few issues
1) this is clearly a console port. meaning the menu is akward and the first 10min i couldn't do anything cause the game disabled my kb/mouse input completely cause it uses 360 controllers by default 2) the graphics aren't bad , but not as i expected. 3) vsync. that is all (thank god you can disable it) 4) shadows like to have a will of their own. moving about and shit. not normal. but overal good game. sadly i just can't get an fps average > 30 without making the resolution shit or making the game look like shit |
