disable vista aero theme and you have an xp basically...plus a big speed boost...lol 
and 15% more battery life...also theres some othere stuff to disable too......lol
vista aero theme is the only downside to vista...cuz its a huge resource hog...and you have to turn off like 4 different things to get it completely off in some cases....lol
