How DARE YOU, GOOD SIR!! In the house of the queen!
Seriously though, my first card was an ATI RAGE PRO 4MB. I have lost the romance with the company over the years.
What burns you about NVIDIA? Besides taking your system hostage and all that other cool stuff they do now?
Nothing really. I am one that will buy whatever is best for my system and that my wallet can sustain
But I have only bought nVidia GPU's because they tend to be better supported by most emulators and games. On top of that they usually run a bit cooler and because of that make less noise (although I don't know that for sure about the latest Vega-series)[offtopic]
My first card was actually a Trident MicroSystems 8900D ISA card with 512kb which I later upgraded to 2MB... My first 3D card was a Voodoo2 12MB (for which I later bought a 2nd one so I could run glorious 1024x786 16bit games on my 26" CRT screen with my Wicked3d EyeScream 3d shutterglasses) and then replace an S3 ViRGE 3D 4MB for the Trident since Win98SE didn't like that one... Finally when I stepped into the world of Single Card 3D Processors I bought a nVidia GeForce 2MX 400 with 32MB... Upgraded to a FX5200 64MB, 6800 128MB with unlocked shaderquad and vertexquad, 7900GTX 512MB, 9800GTX 512MB, GTX470 1,28GB, bought myself a laptop with a GTX870m 6GB and now have a GTX780 3GB... seems that ATI/AMD has always been at the lower end at the time I bought my cards. I did have a 9600Pro 256MB at some point in my spare machine which I overclocked like hell and it literally went up in flames, but a lot of my friends I advised an ATI/AMD card and they never had any issues with them.
