It's evening here in Sweden and my vacation haven't technically started yet.
Got my shiny Fifa 12 disc today and thought I could relax with some football matches before tomorrow only to find out:

1. Internet connection required to run the game - Annoying! check V
2. A bloatware EA client named Origin needs to be installed which requires you also to register, creating unneccessary accounts I don't want - Annoying! check V
3. Updates updates and more updates needs to be installed, quite heavy considering I got a mobile broadband with not the best bandwitch here on the countyside - Annoying! check V
4. Release date checks on the exe file - Annoying! check V

Fifa 11 was easy:
1. Install
2. Play

WTF have happened, I bought the physical disc let me just:
1. Install
2. Play

I've had it, from this day I have sworn to myself never to buy a PC game again.
I guess I can kiss a refund for this crap bye bye.

Sorry for the rant, I just needed to ventilate.

I really miss the good old times, buying a game, install it and play it.
It's never coming back.

Well I've been pretty lucky in recent years buying only games that either can be installed and played directly or needed some simple activation like Windows though it's getting much more rarer today.

Duke Nukem Forever and Fallout New Vegas being the only two exceptions with it's Steam client (one big annoyance) which also required registration, account creation, updates and other unneccessary stuff.

I haven't really used cracks and I'm very selective to what get's installed on my machine.
If Fifa 12 had used Steam I could have lived with since it's already installed and have an offline mode.

But I don't want a billion game clients just to play my games nor should I be forced using internet to play, then I think they should just stop selling games on discs and stop fooling people making it completely digital.
At least the re-sellers can inform you that you need Internet and such in order to play.

If I had known this I would never even bought this game and EA have always been a pain in the a**

While it's true that most of the earths population have internet today, some of us don't have high quality internet connection and bandwich nor the patience for this nonsense.

I'm and old fashion guy that just want things to be as they always have been.

It feels terrible being forced to giving in on this stuff.
I'm trying as best as I can not to give in but I don't know, there will be times when I can't ignore it any longer.
Steam and I have had some issues but most of it it's gone now and that's always something I guess.

I read earlier on the EA forums that people have had a huge amount of problems with Fifa 12 and Origin since the release.
For me they could have waited with the release to fix all the problems, it feels rushed and not a glimpse of quality in their work.
We buy games to have fun not to be ripped off and have problems.

Ah to hell with it I'll just stick with Fifa 11, can't stand this annoying crap any longer.
I just want to take the disc and run over it with my car.

Ha ha you wouldn't be so happy if you were in my position mate.
I'm one step from running it over with my car.
All I have had today is issues, issues and more issues.
I haven't even got the chance to play it at all.

I wonder what other evil ways there is to destroy the disc...hmmm
