A screen shot would help. :/ Or you could tell us which game, your system specs, which gfx plugin you are using....
Seriously, how do you expect anyone to help you if you don't give any information at all???

That's a very vague description seeing as you didn't list even the game you're playing..
But turning on safe texture cache usually solves this issue (mostly). Distorted characters and letters will become readable
