I would advise you against it. You should have high voltage to sustain such an overclock which is not good in the long run for the processor.

Don't assume that. Sandy bridge can hit 4.8GHz prime95 stable at less than 1.38 vcore, which is perfectly safe for long term use. Not sure about 5.0GHz but I would imagine some of the better ones could pull it off.

Which is why I said less than. 4.8GHz can be achieved with 1.35v

So has anyone tested heavy dolphin games with the i5-2500 with integrated gpu?

I'm planning on buying an h67 board with the i5-2500. And I wonder if I would need a seperate video card to play games like SMG1/2, DKCR, ...

Super mario galaxy games definitely unless if you like to play them in a low resolution. My 9600gt drops at about 40 - 45 fps in those games with efb scale set to 3x and it is at least 2 - 4 times faster than those intergrated intel gpu's on paper.

Intel has two embedded graphics processors for sandy bridge (since it's on the same die embedded is the proper term not integrated). HD 2000 and HD 3000. They're also clocked at different frequencies depending on which model you have. The high clocked hd 3000s score higher than an hd5550 and lower than an hd5570 from ati. The lower clocked 2000s are inbetween the 5450 and 5550. Based on that many games will be runnable at native efb resolution but for some you will need a video card. And if you want to use higher than native internal resolutions you will need a video card either way.

Thanx for the clear answer!
I think the i5 series only has the 2000 gpu so I'll probably have to go with a separate video card.

Any suggestions? I'd like one that can be passively cooled because i'm trying to build a quiet system.

What country are you in if I may ask? If you're in the united states:

Those would be the fastest cards you can get with passive cooling from either brand.
