The long awaited rewrite of Zelda HLE has begun, and we need your help to try and iron out all of the bugs!  We're currently testing and tracking bugs, but, we want more testing to ensure that everything is perfect.  We currently are tracking issues on the issue tracker with the [NZHLE] qualifier.

You can follow the Issue List yourself by following the link.

Current Compatibility

The Legend of Zelda:  The Wind Waker
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures
The Legend of Zelda:  Twilight Princess (GC)
The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Pikmin
Pikmin 2
Luigi's Mansion
Super Mario Sunshine
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
Animal Crossing
GameCube Bios

Testing

Please test the compatible games to the best of your ability.  You will need to download the latest build from Zelda HLE Master.  Please check it for updates; it should be updated fairly often!  Also, the thread will be updated as more compatible games are added.  When testing the games, you will be mostly looking for audio errors.  If you find something you think is an audio problem, please try the following.

1:  Try LLE audio, and see how it sounds there.
2:  If possible, compare to a console recording or your own console.
3: Make sure you're using the latest build!

Any possible issues run into should be posted here regardless. Please provide audio dumps when necessary, comparing HLE to LLE, along with the build number.  With that, happy testing everyone!

Note:  Linux users will need to switch to the new-zelda-hle branch in git and compile on their own.

Wowsers, I am really looking forward to this development since the last Zelda U-code HLE rewrite. The problem is I'm at work and I don't have my laptop darn it! Would I give right now to be home and test this out. Will test and see what I can come up with.

Thanks for making and maintaining that thread. The compatibility list will expand over time - usually after I'm done with a round of bug fixing I add support for another game. Please make sure you're using the latest version of new-zelda-hle before reporting a bug!

Updated the main post with a headphone warning about the NTSC Bios, and updated the link to Zelda HLE issues.

IPL currently doesn't boot due to a regression that was just fixed in master; I think you should rebase this.

Sweet mother of Jesus! Am I dreaming? Is this real life? Tongue

Is there a detailed explanations of issues that remained with Zelda HLE after the previous rewrite? I noticed the audio doesn't drop out anymore at one part during the into for Sky Station Galaxy - Storming the Skyfleet. Volume and reverb is improved which I'll test against LLE to see how accurate to LLE it is. Anything else I should check, did any of the games have remaining audio issues besides some minor audio dropouts and volume/reverb issues? I've read the magic meter in ZWW was fixed but other than that and what I said I'm not aware of any other audio issues.

Great job devs! I am really impressed, most of us never though these issues would be fixed but you continue to amaze. Audio sure has came a long way, I remember when games like Windwaker, TP started to output noise that barely resembled ingame audio if at all. Smile

There wasn't a "previous rewrite", the recent fixes to the Zelda HLE ucode were just patches. New Zelda HLE is the real deal.

Ah ok. I'm amazed either way, rewrite is awesome and no LLE required anymore is effing great! Big Grin

One question though will LLE remain for audio or are the devs considering removing it after this?

It will probably remain for bug testing and other purposes, just as interpreter is still around even though its value to users is minimal. But this is an open source project, so who knows what the future will bring! Tongue
