<smile> you're still speaking in tongues - I'm a complete Linux novice (install dependencies? - ah, no). I'm using MINT because it simply runs, straight out of the box. The package manager and software manager take care of that for me. I use Firefox and Thunderbird, because they run, straight out of the box. I have been spoiled by the windows side, sorry. I use QuiteRSS, Pidgin and Pan, again because they run straight out of the box. The Dolphin crew seems to have set their sights on Android rather than Linux, and I can't fault them for that - you go where the people are (windows first, Mac second, Android third, and then maybe Linux - but there are few gamers there). The Dolphin version in the package manager is currently 4.0.2. and until that changes, I will wait. Thanks anyway for your forbearance with me

Quote:The Dolphin crew seems to have set their sights on Android rather than LinuxThat's afaik not correct. Dolphin on Linux is actively maintained, more than Android, and just as much as Windows, and probably even more than OS X because very few devs use OS X. You really don't need to do any complicated stuff to get it to build. You literally copy&paste a few commands into a terminal, then wait for the build. Well, I guess what some consider straightforward can be more difficult for others Btw, note that you only have 4.0.2 in the official repos and that will not change until you upgrade to a newer distro version. Which could take a pretty long time. 09-06-2016, 05:43 AM

There is essentially no development for Android currently, but Linux is very commonly used among the developers. 09-06-2016, 09:12 AM
Well, until they release a new distro to the servers that feed the package manager in MINT, it will be difficult for a command line person to upgrade BTW, the package manger tells me when there are updates, so folks like me depend on it.
