Hello, i'm new and if i may, i would like to ask some questions of technical nature.

1)First off, dolphin as an emu, i suppose is more cpu dependent than gpu right? So i guees i would rather have a stronger overcklocked cpu rather than expensive gpus in sli and stuff, correct?

2)Another question is, does dolphin run significantly better on x64 systems with the x64 build?

3)I know that it has a d3d9 graphics plugin. Are there plans for d3d10/11?

Bonus Question)I have read about dolphinil an x86 only version, that is stronger in some games but generally much less stable. Who is the developer of this version, and any idea where i can find the latest release?

1. Sort of. The cpu is generally more important with dolphin but that isn't to say that the gpu isn't also important. Dolphin is more cpu dependant but you still need a decent gpu to run it and you still need to lower your resolution, AA, and efb scale with weaker gpus. Also dolphin does not support sli/crossfire for the record.

2. Yes. x64 builds are significantly faster than x86 builds, the only disadvantage is that they can only run in 64 bit OS of course.

3. Yes. We already have one, and have had one for quite some time. It's still a work in progress though and is highly not recommended (at the moment it's very buggy compared to d3d9 and it's also slower).

Bonus: No idea.

bonus, you must've read some really old thread/discussion, as IL or JITIL has long since been integrated to dolphin, it's usually faster than JIT rec in x86 but slower in x64.

1)Do higher-end gpus really make an impact though? I have an nvidia gtx275. IF i was using lets say a gtx295 or 4xx or ati hd5870/5970 will i be able to run significantly better?

At the moment i'm trying Resident Evil 1 with the optimization settings from the game discussion, and at heavy lighting situations i drop to 17-22 fps. Like for example the entrance corridor with the candlesticks where there are some heavy lightings and shadows, and also when i'm interacting with other characters and on video sequences. The optimal would be of course a steady 30 fps, i suppose.

BTW, What is the importance of setting custom resolution? Isnt it best to run the game at its native resoltuion? I dont know the native AR for gamecube and i think it should be something near VGA and 4/3 correct? I have a 2560x1600 Monitor. If i set a res, of 1280x720 or 1920x1080 does it really matter, since native AR is something like 640x480?

2)Ok, i see. Although i do have a x64 system, atm i'm running an x32 version for win7, but plan on upgrading to x64 OS. I was just wondering if x64 builds really make a difference.

3)Ok just wanted to get informed, of the progress on that matter. I guess the D3d9 will have to do for now Smile

Bonus) Well yes i remember a year or more back, on my old system when i used the IL version so i could gain some more FPS on Resi 0. Now that i build up my new system i rememebered this special build and wanted to gather some more info.

So where is this integrated function located on the current dolphin builds?
