i have no clue if this is the correct area to post this, but no matter what i do, the input during a tas is delayed by 3 frames (the 3rd frame being the one the button is activated). i cant seem to figure out why this happens. any answer will be appreciated! thanks!
TAS Input Delay

Just one game in particular or every game you try to play? If it's one game only, it would be helpful to know the name. In that case, the only thing I can think of is that the game's programming itself delays any action by 3 frames regardless of when input was received (which is genuinely a thing on some more modern games).
If it's an issue with Dolphin however, it may be worth trying previous development builds (or even the old 5.0 stable build) to compare and see if a regression has happened. 09-05-2020, 04:04 PM

For Melee, as far as I know, I think at most you might get 2 frames of lag depending on when the game is polling input and when a button is pressed. That's excluding the lag caused by the display. Someone did extensive testing on real hardware some years ago. Optimal lag was about half a frame.
So 3 frames seems a bit too much, but 1 or 2 would be pretty normal, since that's just how the game's code reacts to input. As I suggested, try older revisions or the old stable build to see if something changes in Dolphin. If it's the same all the way back to 5.0 or something like that, you may just have to account for those 3 frames while TASing. There may be a better solution, but my knowledge of Melee TASing is rather limited (I just watch the YouTube videos ) 09-06-2020, 06:26 AM
