Quote:How could you not list puzzles as a cornerstone of Zelda? That has been there since the beginning of the franchise.

Because they're laughably easy, not very engaging, and ultimately aren't what makes zelda great. Not to mention environment puzzles are more interesting than combat mechanics because if you've already fought a particular enemy you already know what to do and it just ends up becoming repetitive and therefore boring.

Ask yourself this, what do you remember about Ocarina of Time? What parts of the game really stuck in your mind? I can guarantee you it wasn't any particular puzzle, unless you count the side quests. I remember exploring new worlds. I remember unique and interesting characters. I remember a story that I actually cared about. I remember mesmerizing environments. The puzzles are a cool aspect, especially the unique items and unique ways to use those items, but they aren't what makes zelda zelda. It greatly improves the game but it can't make up for the lack of the other more important elements.

-Environments were well crafting and very atmospheric
-Music was excellent
-The characters weren't as memorably as other zeldas but it was still decent in this regard
-Story wise I didn't think it was anywhere close to OoT or MM. It tries to tell the same hero of a thousand faces story as the rest but it just doesn't do as good of a job in my opinion.
-The world is still believably and immersive even if it's not as well crafted as OoT or MM in this regard, everything is connected just like always

Overall it's a very good game, just not up to par with OoT or MM in my opinion, but certainly worth playing.

Well I don't know what's wrong with you.

I really liked the puzzles in OOT actually. That is most of what I remember from that game (along with music and awesome Sidequests).

@promero14 I liked WW's story, but a lot of people didn't. The dungeons were good in that game. I would get it. But then again I am a huge Zelda fan so my opinion probably isn't very objective.

And yet you remember THE PUZZLES? That makes even less sense. How were you even able to comprehend the puzzles at 3 years old let alone remember them?

It can happen. I basically memorized the entire first LoZ game when my mom played it. I didn't touch it again until at least a decade later, but I'd watched my mom beat the dungeons so often that I didn't need to once look at a guide online until the last dungeon (one she never beat, I actually just needed to know how to get there more than anything). So the dungeons and their primitive puzzles are what I remember most. It depends on what age you play a LoZ game and how much it influences you, I guess. LoZ, OoT, MM and WW are by far the most memorable one's for me, since I've spent the most time with them. Contrast that with LttP and TP, each of which I've only beaten once, and think decently but not greatly of them.

The only thing laughable about the Master Quest for OoT (or the hell-mode or whatever it was for LoZ after you beat the game) was how hard the dungeons were. The normal ones merely tease your brain, the other ones torture it. Still stuck in the MQ Water Temple :3

I don't remember jack squat from before age 5/6. And I thought that was normal.
