I have a GeForce GTX280 which is in the same tier as your 4870 1GB and I can enable 4xAA and still get 150-200FPS man...88 as the lowest so far.
Also, I'm at the start, at the temple, trying to fight the big guy that comes after the two soldiers. It doesn't crash, it doesn't pause...nothing, it just stays "Do not get in our way!" and doesn't progress for like 20 seconds, then the fight starts, then "This guy is tough!" and then it just stays there.
