Hey ho,

Im trying to get SweetFX working with Dolphin;
so far it only works in DX9; DX11 crashes at the start.

Has anyone got it working?

It worked for me exactly ONE time and i never was able to recreate it. Sad

It lets you inject and customize SMAA, FXAA, bloom, HDR, cartoon shading, tone maps and several other functions.

With a bit of tuning, it can make a game look really great.

First of all, keep in mind that not all the backends use the same AA method.

As of the latest build, AA methods are:

1-DX9: SSAA.

2-DX11: (maybe here´s your error) DX11 doesn´t use methods, it simply uses AA samples with quality levels. The highest is 8 samples with quality level set to 16.

3-O-GL: Both samples only and Q-CSAA, CSAA and SSAA.

Apart from those, (if I´m not wrong) you can also inject MSAA.

yes Oliver its nice that you try to help, but that got nothing to do with SweetFX, which is a post processing injector. You can use it on top of Dolphins regular AA.

Unfortunately, it crashes in connection with DX11 for me.

So i wonder if anyone got this running.

Copy the content of the file in your Dolphin Main Dir.

I only tried it with 64-bit-Version of Dolphin so far.
For that to work, you also have to copy the two files in the sweetfx64-subfolder in the main dolphin dir and choose replace.

Heres a nice settings file for Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 and many other Comic-Style Games as well:

The problem seems to be related to a certain "swapchain"-issue.

Update:

Oh well, doing a lot of research, i was able to solve it myself now.


The problem was that i had FRAPS running, which in connection with SweetFX causes the crashing.

When i turn fraps off, it works.


The reason i had fraps running is that i use downsampling for better Anti-Aliasing;
and using this, the numbers of Dolphin's internal fps-counter are too small to read.
Their font size cannot be set in Dolphin so far, unfortunately.

That has nothing to do with any of this. If you don't know what the OP is talking about you shouldn't be trying to help him/her.

SweetFX is an injector that allows you to run HLSL shaders in nearly any application.

@Gabbyjay

Any program capable of an overlay will likely break sweetfx. Just keep that in mind in the future.
