Most games you've played are "light" or not too much demanding games (assuming you're using HLE)

Apparently, you force your opinion onto other people . i3 CPU + integrated GPU are not good stuffs for Dolphin unless he's on a very low budget
And I just want to point out
Quote:Pokémon Colosseum,Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door
These games need LLE backend , you're using HLE backend .
Quote:Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
need EFB copies to Ram , you're using EFB copies to texture

With that said , you're using incorrect settings for each game . If you used correct settings , you won't get good performance on those games

Quote:I haven't found a game that doesn't run full speed on my computer yet
Your comments can backfire on you :
Quote:On Double Dash time trials are full speed and Grand Prix are playable 75-85%
Mario DD is a light-weight game as well

None of those game require LLE to function properly.
And you don't "need" EFB -> RAM in Wind Waker. It's kind of silly for you guys to go around posting that people need 2500k's and the like to enjoy these games. Just because you aren't playing with 4x IR or emulating every minor graphical detail doesn't mean you're playing it the "wrong way".

Haven't checked the wiki ?
Quote: Just because you aren't playing with 4x IR
No one say that in the first place
Higher IR = better GPU , no relate to i5 2500k whatsoever

@The Hero of Time I agree. I was under the impression that I could not play dolphin at decent speeds with any game. All the games I've tried run amazingly and I'm happy. You don't need to spend so much money to have fun.
PC Specs
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1500X 3.5GHz
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB
RAM: 8GB 2400MHz DDR4

I did check the wiki, it says right there that LLE is no longer needed for that game. Maybe you should check it.

Did I say the 2500k influenced the IR? That's a weird thing to pick out of my comment.

Then why did you bring i5 2500k topic here ? I recommended i5 3230M + AMD 7670M . The laptop cost under 650$
I usually recommend a gaming laptop , the Toshiba laptop is just a multi-media laptop . It will run hot when gaming

I wouldn't called 75% speed on a light weight game as "amazing" if I were you
Quote: it says right there that LLE is no longer needed for that game
yeah , right . But the new HLE is also as demanding as using LLE on old dolphin version (maybe abit less)

I wasn't referring to that specific example, although it is ridiculous to say that someone needs that system to run these games. (admittedly, that is a pretty good deal though for $650).

The only point I'm trying to make here is that people often overestimate what kind of machine it takes to enjoy a game with Dolphin. Being able to run EFB-RAM, LLE etc is nice, but it's not at all necessary for the vast majority of games. I think it's a bit insulting to some of the devs who have worked very hard on tedious optimizations to bring the performance to where it is now.

Also...no. The new HLE is not as demanding as LLE at any point in time, ever. No.

Perhaps , you should check this thread

(05-06-2013, 10:48 AM)Shonumi Wrote: Ever since the FIFO-BP merge, this game has ceased to crash on me. Try using the latest revisions; 3.5-145 is really outdated given the amount of changes that have been going on. Audio is also flawless with HLE audio for this game in the latest revisions, so you should definitely consider it.
(05-06-2013, 11:01 AM)solarnoise Wrote: Man, I would love to, but... all the latest versions (as in, after the AX-HLE merge around 1100), don't run as fast as the older (3.5-145) versions. I get at most 18-19 FPS, and have to use OpenAL with the audio slowed down. It's like playing the game in slow motion.

With old Dolphin 3.5 + LLE , I get 19->25 FPS
With latest Dolphin + new HLE , almost the same (a bit better though)

Forgot to fix this :

these games ? It depends on the game you're talking about
Sure you're not talking about demanding games such as SMG, The Last Story . Sorry but even i5 2500k stock speed couldn't help you on those game

I think most people recommend the high-end CPUs because most people who come here want to play the popular demanding games.

Here are a few points:

1) If I come here and say that I want to play "New Super Mario Brothers Wii", "Zelda The Wind Waker"," Super Smash Brothers Melee" and "Super Mario Galaxy", it's true that most of those games don't need an overclocked i5-3570K, but one of those games does, so you have to jump to the high-end CPU even though the other games don't require it. Once you throw a very demanding game into your list of games that you want to play, any weak hardware is not going to get the job done.

2) There is also the scenario where someone asks which processor to get for a particular game. You could tell them to get something low-end just for that game, but then they're limited to only low-end games, so you tell them to get something better so they're not stuck with a brand new weak machine that can only run a few games.

Obviously, the better the hardware you have, the more game options you have. If you were to tell me that you want to play Wind Waker, only Wind Waker and nothing else, I'd tell you to pick up a laptop similar to mine. The problem with that is inevitably there is going to come a time when you will want to play something else, and if it's a game that is much more demanding, it's just not going to happen. Then you're in the market for better hardware again.
