Super Smash Bros Brawl Help

Hi!
I'm having a problem with Super Smash Bros Brawl, I can't play with four players because the first player is set to a game cube controller no matter what and I can't connect the 4th wiimote because of it. I checked the wiki and it said to "Disable either the GC Pad plug-in player 1 or Wiimote to solve this" but I'm not exactly sure how to go about fixing this. (The 4th wiimote is connected on the menu but cannot be used in the game)

I don't know how to solve this but you disable the gc pad under config -> gamecube -> port 1

To connect wiimotes press alt+f5/f6/f7/f8
