Super Paper Mario Crashes and Freezes

So I've been playing Super Paper Mario without any problem in 5.0-3177 until I got to Chapter 6-2.  After beating the boss Mimi, I went through a few rooms until I got to a character with a red helmet that talked and zoomed in on the sky. Then, Dolphin bugged out and I got some dialogs and/or crashes...  

I then downloaded version 5.0-3251 and it is exactly the same problem..

Which backend are you using? Does it also happen on D3D11?

It happens exactly the same on OpenGL and D3D11

Make sure you have your latest GPU drivers installed.

Ok... Do you change any settings -after- opening the game?

I didn't change anything after opening the game

i had this issue happen to me too. i know the devs dont recommend old builds, but i was able to get by the crash by using 4.0.2 until i was able to save, then go back to using the build i was using before.

I tried development builds 5.0-3287 and 5.0-3301 and they both froze and needed to be Ctrl+Alt+Del 'ed to escape to the desktop
