Hello everyone,

While I'm not new to emulators in general, I'm brand new to Dolphin and I just have to say how awesome it is so far. And thanks to everyone on these forums; I've been able to solve a few problems just by reading the older threads.

My main issue I'm having right now is getting a game to recognize my gamepad. I grew up with NES and SNES, so my main reason for installing Dolphin was to play Mega Man 9 and 10 that were released to Wii a couple of years ago, harking back to the 8-bit era. The rom itself works in Dolphin just fine, but I can't seem to get the game to recognize my controller. I'm using a SNES style controller, and I've been able to map the buttons in the gamepad configuration settings (they register just fine), but then when I start the game up, it's completely unresponsive to the controller. I've tried reconfiguring a couple of times, but nothing seems to work.

I'm using Dolphin 4.0 x64 on Window 8.1 x64, if that makes a difference.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you so much in advance!

4.0? You DID download Dolphin from https://dolphin-emu.org/download/, riiiiight?

If you did, you'd see the development builds, and the progress reports showing all of the amazing things you are missing out on by using 4.0!

Anyway, as for your issue, can you show us a screenshot of your gcpad or emulated wiimote settings please? I am assuming you set up the GCPad (GameCube Controller), which Mega Man 9 does not support. The solution, if my guess is right, is that you need to set up an emulated wiimote or classic controller.

Hi MaJoR,
Wow, how on Earth did I download such an old version? I swear I downloaded the latest one, and it was from Dolphin's official page. So strange. Thanks for setting me straight. I'll go download the newest one right now.

And you're right about my configuration. It looks as though I was configuring the GameCube controls, not the Wii. There doesn't seem to be an option to configure my gamepad as a Wii controller. Or, at least there doesn't seem to be in 4.0. Maybe there will be that option in the newest one I'm about to download. If not, do you know of any pages or resources online that can help me use a SNES controller to play Mega Man 9 through Dolphin? Or is the only solution to buy an actual Wii controller?

Thanks again so much for your help.

You didn't download it from dolphin-emu.org! Never go to that other place!

Hi MaJoR,
Oh shoot, you're right. I thought I had downloaded from the official site, but it was the .com site. Are they evil? Should I be concerned about having run their .exe file (such as malware or whatnot)?

Thanks for the heads up!

It's not malware, but they are using Dolphin for profit at our expense!
