StripTheSoul: Just try it locally, calculate the sum of all texture.width * texture.height * 4 bytes, how many GB is it? I guess RAM->VRAM performance is fast enough, but decoding the PNG and loading from hard drive needs some time...

The textures for this pack are 2025 MB uncompressed. The biggest texture pack I've got installed is the SMG1 pack which is 2679 MB.
I'd love an option to preload textures to RAM if that's feasible to make. But yeah it's a lot of memory, probably not something you'd want to have on by default. The current HUD textures are intended for IR of 8x and above (if the camera zooms in on some particles then that will compensate for a lower IR but i'll simplify a lot of things - even some calculations - for the sake of the argument) so this post is pretty much besides the point but bear with me. The thing is the textures are 8 times the original dimensions (in pixels) which is very roughly 64 times the original size (in KB/MB) so i think it's safe to downsize the textures at 50% (this way they'll be 4x the original dimensions - roughly 16 times the original size). You'll end up with 506.25 MB, that shouldn't be that much of an issue when preloaded.

I'd like to be able to play this, but I'm have those same stuttering issues that a few others here have reported.
I'm running an i7-4770 and a GTX 970. I've tried the latest dev build and the latest Ishiiruka build (I used all the settings people here recommended). It'll play at 30FPS for a while, then all of a sudden dip/stutter at 25-26FPS for a second or two before going back to 30FPS. The stutter occurs every 5-10 seconds I'd guess, which makes for an unpleasant experience. It even happens at 1x native with no AA (it behaves the same exact way as it does at 4x native and 8 samples of AA). I don't have the stuttering issue whenever I don't use this awesome texture pack, so is there anything that can be done? Perhaps a specific dev build it works best on? 02-21-2015, 04:32 AM

razius made this texture pack before the new custom texture format was introduced. The problem with this texture pack is that it needs the Texture Cache set to SAFE which is very demanding.
Also, the textures here are very big. No matter how high end your computer is there will be those stutters when big HD textures are loaded. Right now there's no solution to this issue. However, if you can convert the PNG textures to DDS files (if you do, it'd be nice if you could post the pack here ) the stutter should pretty much go away. Ishiiruka supports DDS files.

I wouldn't mind giving that a try. I'm new to .dds files though. I found an NVIDIA Photoshop plugin that allows you to convert the PNG files to .dds files, but I have no idea what settings to use when saving the files. Is there a guide out there that shows the best settings to use for Dolphin or perhaps a guide that uses a different program to do the conversions? Also, once I have the files saved as .dds files, is there anything else I need to do/change for the Ishiiruka build of Dolphin to recognize the .dds files instead of .png?

Since Ishiiruka recognizes DDS files there shouldn't be anything else for you to do. However, I don't know myself how to convert those PNGs to DDS files. Let me navigate BigHead here. Maybe he's got a quick link for you or something.

Sorry for the delay.
Aorta is what I always used and makes it really easy to batch convert PNG files to DDS.http://sourceforge.net/projects/aorta/ 02-22-2015, 01:02 AM
Thanks Bighead. I'll give that a try. Do you just use the default program settings when converting PNG to DDS with Aorta?
